Freedom Baptist Church History

Freedom Baptist Church was founded on February 24, 1974, by Lewis Ed Wilson. Services were held in the Legion Hut on Legion Road. In June, 1974, the Moose Lodge on West Mountian Drive was purchased along with five acres of land. The Church then incorporated on September 25, 1974. In 1975, a new wing was added which included the baptistery and three large rooms that were later divided to provide seven classrooms in addition to the nurseries and offices.

In February 2000, the church building was sold and nine acres of land were purchased at the current location on Middle Road and a building project was started. During this time, services were held at the Gospel Baptist Church on Legion Road. On April 1, 2001, the dedication service for the new facilities was held.

Since then, God has been so good and has always provided our every need. On our 33rd anniversary, we had a special mortgage burning service; and now, by the Grace of God, we are debt free and look forward to what God has in store for us next.

As the years go by, the faces may change at Freedom, but our Lord and our Commitment to him never do. Thank you Lord, for all you have done for Freedom Baptist Church and may others come to know and love you through our church as we do.
